For ease of rigging, the sails are laced to the masts (with velcro), furled, and protected with nylon covers. She has a weighted centerboard, to keep the cockpit clean and flat. She comes with floorboards, oars, hideaway boarding ladder, masthead float, 4# danforth, fenders, fire extinguisher, kick-up rudder, tiller lock system, camp cruising platform and tent, lounging platform (for the first mate), 16 mil poly tarp cover, fishing chair. Handmade sailboat whirly gig |
This is a beautiful handmade whirly gig including 4 sailboats with nylon sails. As the wind blows it, the sailboats spin in opposite directions as the sails tack. This is a high quality whirly gig, even the spinning arms have bearings. This has had a repair to the top arm to make it stronger. It comes with a stake that lets the pole be quickly removed and put up. I had this in the front yard at our house on Brown Creek. Thought I'd use it back in Durham but it's just out of place here. CCA rule hull, full keel, beautifully kept stunning lines. Original teak interior with standing headroom (5' 10"). This is not a Meridian 24. Although little can be found on this model, I have been told that she was modified from the Rhodes designed Meridian 24 by Bill Tripp when he was designing for Seafarer. She has a very dependable Johnson 9.9 with an electric start in a motor well. Large V-berth forward w/ concealed head.
