Here’s a voting experience where you get to try a lot of chili and help the Old Theater raise funds. The 9th Annual Chili Cookoff is happening on Saturday, Oct 22, 2016 from 11a-1:30p at the Oriental Marina & Inn on the harbor in Oriental. Awards at 2p.

It works like this: A dozen or so chefs bring their best chili, you buy a ticket, sample them and then vote for who you think should win the People’s Choice Award. (There’s also the Judge’s Pick, determined by a trio of judges.) A click here will discover this year’s chili chefs. Tix: $10. All proceeds go to support The Old Theater, a non-profit organization. This year the proceeds go to fix The Old Theater roof (it needs it).
