Pamlico County Commissioners hold a public hearing Monday June 19 at 7p on the proposed County budget for the coming 2017-18 fiscall year. The hearing takes place at the county courthouse. Click here for budget message from the County Manager Tim Buck.

This coming year’s budget has drawn more attention than most because it calls for a 0.025 cent hike in property taxes. That prospect drew a large crowd – most of whom opposed it – to the Board’s early June meeting, However, none of the 4-3 majority who earlier voted for that tax hike – Republicans Paul Delamar III, Candy Bohmert and Missy Baskervill nor Democrat Pat Prescott opted to revisit the issue.

The entire budget could be passed after Monday’s public hearing. According to the County Manager, “Commissioners can adopt the budget any time after the public hearing or can call for additional meetings or hearings if they feel warranted.”
