The first Saturday of July falls late this year and so, Croakerfest will be celebrated on Friday-Saturday July 6-7. If you want to be in the 10a Croakerfest parade on Saturday — it’s free — contact Paul Fairbank at 249-0023 or stop by Village Hardware.
Croakerfest opens at 4p on Friday July 6 with performances by the Pamlico Community Band and the Pamlico Chorale. While that’s going on, the judges will be deciding the Baking Contests. The Miss Minnow Pageant is at 6p and the Croaker Queen pageant at 6:30p. Soul Shakers play the Street Dance at 8p
Saturday: Croakerfest Parade is at 10a. (Parade lineup is at 9a) Parade winners announced from the stage at South and Freemason at 11:30a. Kids Park opens on South Ave at 11:45a. Noon-2p Molasses Creek plays at the main stage, kicking off an afternoon of music by other musicians as well. 2p in the waters off of Green and Smith Creek (and the Neuse) the Croaker Festival Regatta races start (the bridge is a great viewing point). The Southern Aires bring traditional swing to the street dance from 6-9p at South and Freemason. 9:30p fireworks over the harbor.
