Pamlico Rescue provides paramedic emergency medical care in Pamlico County. But for most hours in the week, the ambulance service is based in Bayboro, and it can be 10 minutes from the time you call 911 in Oriental and the ambulance team’s arrival.

That’s why the First Responder volunteers in communities such as Oriental and Florence are so important. They can get to the scene first and stabilize the patient in those first few minutes when medical care can be so crucial – literally a matter of life or death.

More first responders are needed and you can be one of them. An Emergency Medical Technician training class is starting on Thursday January 19 2017 at Pamlico Community College.
