The Oriental Food Initiative presents its second Food For Thought community read about what and how we eat. The idea: you read a book and then come together with others to talk about how some of the ideas can be put in to practice locally. And in the spirit of “you are what you read’ you may even find things you can do right away.

On Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 6:30P the discussion will center on Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. Join in the conversation at the Perry Griffin Community Room on High Street. The Pamlico Library system has copies.

OFI’s aim is to make sure quality foods are available in Oriental and to support businesses – farmers, shop owners, and restaurants that do that. OFI plans to hold Food for Thought discussions every other month. There is also a Food For Thought book swap going on in the grocery section of the Provision Company. It’s books about food, eating and food gardening.
