Coming Events in Oriental and in and near Pamlico County

  • CANCELLED "Food Matters" OFI Book Discussion - Jan 9. 2017

Because of the weather, the OFI discussion of the book, Food Matters will – NOT – take place on Monday, January 9th. OFI plans to have the discussion at a date to be determined.

Just in time for 2017 New Year’s resolutions about getting healthier, The Oriental Food Initiative invites the public to a discussion about Mark Bittman’s book, “Food Matters” on Monday January 9 at 6:30p at the Perry Griffin Community Room on High Street, corner of First. Food Matters makes the case for being more mindful about what you eat, and offers practical tips and recipes to get there.

OFI supports all businesses – farmers, shop owners, and restaurants – who make fresh foods available in town. It holds the Food for Thought community book club discussions every 2-3 months. OFI also arranges the Food for Thought book swap (of books having to do with food.) Those books are at the Provision Company.

The potluck planned for Friday Jan 13 is still on.
