Oriental becomes the backdrop for a Marine training exercise on October 1, 2014. From noon to 5p – (17H) the 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines Forward Air Controllers will be conducting training throughout the village. Town Hall reports that “the service members will be in civilian attire with hand held radios. The group will be coordinating their efforts with a KC130J aircraft flying over Oriental. This training is in preparation for upcoming deployments and will not disrupt any businesses or residents.”
