NSA (Neuse Sailing Association) and SCOO (Sailing Club Of Oriental) presents a NC Coastal Cruising Primer, Saturday May 20, 2017 9am at Oriental Town Hall. This presentation provides info about cruising destinations around coastal North Carolina, how to get there and what to do.

Discussions include the use of paper charts to “get the big picture” of where you’re going and to have in case your chart plotter fails. You’ll learn where to find the latest US Coast Guard’s LNMs (Local Notice to Mariners) for things like missing buoys and other hazards. And how to check the Army Corps of Engineers for updates on channel depths and conditions. Plus sources for info about marinas, anchorages, cruising the ICW, and finding the best eateries and watering holes at your destination.
