The Oriental Farmers’ Market’s happens on Saturday mornings year round on Hodges Street. Spring and summer hours are 8-11a. The market’s emphasis is “local” — all of the items for sale are locally grown or locally made. You can get an idea of what will be for sale by visiting OrientalFarmersMarket.com
The life of a honeybee isn’t long — just 5-6 weeks — but without them, crops in NC would have a harder time pollinating. They spend half their life in the hive and you can learn about what they do there in a workshop on beekeeping at the Oriental Farmers Market on Saturday May 25. Daniel Simpson of the Pamlico County Agricultural Extension Office will lead the workshop. It’s free. Other upcoming workshops at the Oriental Farmers’ Market are: Growing Vegetables on June 15, the Fall/Winter/Spring Garden on August 17 and Native and Wildlife Plantings on September 21.
