With the New Year come lots of resolutions about eating healthier – being more mindful about the food you eat. Get some ideas and a taste of some flavorful dishes that do your body a favor – The Oriental Food Initiative holds a Healthy Potluck on Friday January 13, 2017 at 6p in the Oriental United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. No charge. Just bring a dish to share.

The emphasis is on eating, as Michael Pollan says, “mostly plants” and there will be a table for foods with no animal or dairy. There’ll also be a table of plant-based dishes that do include meat, fish and dairy, — ideally, locally raised or caught. (And as Thomas Jefferson put it, think about the “animal food” as more of a seasoning or “condiment.”) OFI asks that you write the name of your dish — and the ingredients — on a file card to put beside your dish.
