Coming Events in Oriental and in and near Pamlico County

  • You can vote early, in advance of the November 6 elections, by going to the Elections Office at the County Courthouse. Hurricane Sandy’s imminent arrival however, has prompted some changes in the early voting schedule. Elections supervisor Lisa Bennett says that on Saturday October 27, voters may cast their early ballots from 9a-4p; the office is closing one hour earlier because of the coming storm.

The three-person Elections Board has also cancelled voting on Sunday October 28 altogether, because of the tropical storm conditions are expected that day. (Click here to see the official statement.) The Elections office will be re-open on Monday and be open daily from 9a-6p on the final week of early voting. TO make up for the loss of the Sunday voting, the Board could decide to expand the voting hours up to and including Saturday Nov 3. Check TownDock.net’s home page for updates as they emerge.
