When Andrea Bruce worked as a photojournalist in Iraq and Afghanistan, she tried, with her images, to drive home how the everyday lives of people were changed by the wars going on around them. Andrea is once again looking for photos on a personal level – this time for a book and eventual exhibition about what citizenship, community and democracy mean to people in the US. Andrea has kicked off here in Pamlico County, where she grew up.
will include photos she has taken as well as photos submitted by the public in the US communities she visits over the next 2 years. Andrea asks that the photos be submitted with “a couple words or a sentence or even a paragraph on what democracy, citizenship, equality, or community means to them. What are the things in the county that need help, and what are its strengths.”
Send your words – and recently taken photos that speak to them – to email@example.com Photos should have been snapped no more than a month or two ago. Deadline for submitting photos here in Pamlico County
