Planning Board Meetings - Oct 19, 2016

Oriental’s Planning Board meets on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 1-3p for a workshop. That will be followed by a meeting from 3-5p. This will be at Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public.

No agenda has been publicly posted. Town Manager Diane Miller says that the Planning Board will:

be continuing the update of the CAMA plan in the workshop- that’s it. As for the regular meeting, they have 2 SUP requests- one scheduled for November 1 (short term rentals). I don’t know if they are going to tackle any other new issues this month.

An SUP or Special Use Permit is required if the owner of a home in the residential R2 neighborhood wants to use their home as a vacation rental. A public hearing is required at which neighbors have a chance to comment before the Town Board votes. The Town Board recently considered a proposal to allow short term rentals in the R2 (Old Village) neighborhoods without requiring the SUP process, but in the face of opposition the proposed change was not passed.)
