Yes, Virginia, there will be a lighted boat flotilla as part of Oriental’s 2016 Spirit of Christmas festivities, on Saturday December 10. Joe Valinoti, who is organizing the event, says that boats will rendezvous at Oriental marker “1” at 1645 and proceed on a prescribed route. Those participants wanting a reserved slip at the free, Town Dock #2 will be provided one on a first-to-register basis. This dock will be reserved from Friday noon until Sunday noon and there’ll be a limited amount of electricity provided—for lighting only. Joe says there will also be free overflow slips available throughout Oriental for out-of-area or out-of-town boaters who are taking part in the lighted flotilla.
