Coming Events in Oriental and in and near Pamlico County

  • The Village Gallery turns 10 this year and to celebrate, the gallery on Oriental’s harbor invited some of North Carolina’s best artists from a variety of mediums to show their works. You can see the resulting special exhibit during the months of May and June. Visitors are invited to stop into the Gallery at 300 Hodges Street any time during normal business hours Wednesdays through Sundays from 10a until 5p.

Among the artists are painters Jean Dexter and Russell Yerkes, (watercolors); Lissa McGowan, Steven Moore, and Janet Jaworski, (acrylics); Gosia Tojza, and Dan Beck, (oils); Jay DeChesere, (pastels) and more 3-dimensionally speaking, potter Shelly Mathiot; Michael Brown, (wood); and Jay Shavone, (aluminum.) Many of the artists will be attending the reception held during the Gallery’s Annual Black Velvet Fund Raising Event on Friday, May 18.
