The Ukulele Hoalohas Of Oriental have been gathering weekly for the past year or two to practice and along the way introduce more people to the ukulele. This spring they wanted to make ukuleles available to children in Fred Anderson Elementary School. That meant raising money. Their fundraiser was a success, as UHOO’s Susan Banks writes.
The UHOOs would like to thank the kind folks of Oriental and surrounding areas for their support of our ukulele fundraiser. Donations were also received from Tennessee and Delaware. We appreciated the opportunity to speak and have a fundraising table at the free concert in June sponsored by the Pamlico Music Society. We are pleased to share that we have purchased 24 ukuleles, new strings, and tuners. The UHOOs will be presenting these to the school in the near future.
Again, we extend our thanks to all those who made it possible to share the wonderful gift of music with the fifth grade children at Fred A. Anderson school.
The UHOOs also thank Town Dock for coverage of our group.
