Letters: Town Spending
How Big A Payroll
March 29, 2013

To The Editor:

I believe the citizens of Oriental have the right to know the exact number of paid employees the town has on record and the departments they are assigned. After all, we are the taxpayers. Please list the numbers, the year they were hired, and their salary. School employees’ salaries are listed in the newspaper, so why not town employees?

Also, what is the need for a 3rd police officer? Does this then mean a 3rd town police car? Perhaps an accounting of the number of crimes and the increase rate would shed some light as to the need/ or lack of need on this issue.
