5th Great Oyster Revival
Fundraiser for Pamlico Community College
March 3, 2015

O
yster lovers got their fill Saturday at Pamlico Community College’s Fifth Annual Great Oyster Revival. 15 bushels of oysters, a chili cookoff and more than a hundred attendees helped the PCC Foundation raise funds for student scholarships.

The oysters from the local waters of the Pamlico Sound were, as always, a big draw. But not everyone has a taste for the oyster and the chili cookoff inside the college proved popular, too. Many Revival goers dined on a variety of homemade chilis – bear, venison, vegetarian, were among the offerings. Pat Prescott won the chili cook-off with an Ozark Mountain snake recipe.

Community college spokesman Ben Casey says that many community college students often face financial challenges – juggling family responsibilities with jobs, and on top of that, attending classes. That’s where the PCC Foundation comes in, Casey says, by trying “to guarantee that no deserving students are forced to abandon their educations.”

He says those who missed the Oyster Revival can still help the PCC Foundation and learn about other ways contribute to the effort by contacting the college at 252-249-1851. The Foundation’s next fundraiser is a golf tournament at Minnesott Golf and Country Club in May.
