Seen a 1983 Porsche 944, black with a bit of silver on the hubs? Oriental police say it was stolen after a man broke in to a boat at Oriental Harbor Marina on Saturday, November 7 and took the keys to the Porsche, with NY plates, parked nearby.Police are seeking 45-year old Jerry Senecal, whose last address was Melbourne, Florida. Police chief Dwaine Moore says Senecal arrived in Oriental this summer, by water: Senecal and a now ex-girlfriend had bought a boat in Elizabeth City and were living aboard here with plans to fix it up for cruising. He’d worked on boats in Florida and while living in Oriental.
A few days before the theft of the Porsche, police say Senecal also took items off of the boat his ex-girlfriend owns. A GPS and tools had been sold to another cruising couple for $600, Chief Moore says, but the items were recovered and returned to the ex-girlfriend.
The Porsche belongs to a New York man who spends time in Oriental.
While boat break-ins are rare in Oriental, the police chief advises that boat owners keep their vessels secure.
