Jon Chesson Wins Chilly 2009 Regatta
October 23, 2009

T
he 20th Green’s Greek Regatta — the Oriental Dinghy Club’s annual race for boats 20 feet and under — seems to attract trying weather. Last year’s was very cold and wet. The 2009 Challenge found chilly weather on Greens Creek, but 20 sailors raced anyway.
Sunfish and Lasers were among the small boats taking part in the Green’s Creek Challenge.

At the October 17th race, half a dozen of the boats had sailors younger than 16 at their tillers.

Sunfish outnumbered the other boats..

After two races – sailed with a steady breeze from the west of about 10 knots – Jon Chesson, sailing a Flying Scot was declared the winner. Chuck Lee came in second and Jerry Dasson, third.

The results and more photos follow.

Laser racer Jerry Dasson.
