Minnesott Beach Water Tower Felled
TowLandmark Taken Down ThursdayJuly 27, 2012
For decades, the Minnesott Beach water tower has been the highest spot in town. That reign ended at quarter past three on Thursday afternoon when the Minnesott tower came tumbling down.

Pamlico County purchased another plot of land, miles away for a water facility to serve the community. Minnesott’s Mayor Josh Potter said that the town couldn’t use the land under the tower while it stood.
Welder Larry Hughes answered the call. He offered to take down the tower for nothing, so long as he could claim the metal, which he could then salvage.

… which gave way to a crash. On its way down the tower took out a pine tree
