Scenes from the Thanksgiving Bike Ride 2008
A Simple Bike Ride Through Town
November 30, 2008

The concept of the Thanksgiving Morning Bike Ride is simple. Hop on a bike and ride around the village with several dozen other people. Take in the waterfront. Pass a couple of boatyards, a marina, a boat ramp. Get in a work out before the big feast later in the day. Breathe some fresh air (it was a crisp and clear morning Thursday). See town. Say Happy Thanksgiving a few times.

That’s what about three or four dozen folks did Thursday morning, setting out from the Town Dock around nine.

Here’s what it looked like.

Along South Avenue.
Group photo at Deatons.(It’s become the thing to do there.)
Sandy Evens and biker chic. (It served a thermal function.)
Getting back on the ride.
Leaving Deatons.
Sarah Thorn and her aunt Marsha during a stop at Whittaker Creek Marina.
Sarah Kenney — and passenger — on the return trip from Whittaker Creek.
Orchard Creek resident Earl Evens in the guise of a visiting cruiser on a folding bike. Doug Sligh is at right with the larger wheels.

Dan Stiger and cargo.
Visiting bikers.
Maverick Smith.
Some bikes came with an extra wheel. Candace Young bundled up in yellow as the cooler air stayed lower to the ground..
Entering the Midyette Street leg of the ride, near Triton boat yard.
Coming round from the dinghy dock.
Christie Evens.
Julia Tingle. A familiar sight on wheels in town, on virtually any day.
