The Treasure Hunt Draws A CrowdMay 3, 2009
A lot of folks came in to Oriental Saturday — along with the winds — for the 4th Annual Town Wide Yard Sale.
A scene repeated around town many times Saturday. This was at the Catholic Church’s sale on Broad Street. At least 68 households or organizations took part. There were a number of reports of customers ready to buy far ahead of the official 8am start time. One seller said she had customers at 6:30am.
Some photos of the day:

Reflection on Broad Street, which was particularly busy with yards and things for sale.
Even after noon, the browsing continued.
Meanwhile, down near the Farmers’ Market, some took a break from the yard saling and took in a demonstration about bees and beekeeping. Daniel Simpson of the Cooperative Extension Service, a beekeeper himself explained the hierarchy of the hive.
At the Farmers’ Market itself, John Howes had a few bee attractants for sale.
Sending out a morse code. Dave Shaddock had a vintage dot-dash machine for sale. It might’ve been spelling out “Fifth Annual Town Wide Yard Sale – Next Year.
