Like Ships In A Bottle

A
cold and rainy Monday in March may not draw many sailors to the river. While we wait for balmier weather, a glimpse in a store window can tide us over.

As if in a giant bottle, two sailboats in the window of the Inland waterway Provision Company.
A gaff-rigged cutter cuts a fine line.
Though the streets are rainsoaked, they’re on the other side of the window and the gaff-rigged boat stays in drydock.
A sloop in the window. The tendrils of wind off the bow come from the plant that shares the window space.
