A boat burned at a dock in the town of Pamlico late Memorial Day afternoon. An eyewitness says billowing smoke first appeared, followed by a jet of gas. Ben Barnett, incident commander for the firefighters, says the cause will likely be ‘undetermined’, though he noted that an extension cord was seen on the dock. (Photo: Loring Kutchins)
