A tandem bike team crosses the very wet starting line in Saturday’s Croaker Relay. Almost three dozen teams turned out — a record — to ‘compete’ in the race that is not decided by which team reaches the finish line first. The event instead hinged on the tossing of the plywood croaker baton afterward. As is also the tradition, a fire hydrant marked the start and finish line, perhaps helping contestants bond with the fish the event is named for. Story and photos are here…
