Several days of southerly and westerly winds blew water out of area creeks and shorelines. The Duck Pond in Oriental was no exception – down a foot or two, rendering much of it a mud flat in this view Monday afternoon. Nol Engel, who’s lived across the street, says he’d never seen it so low. By Tuesday morning calmer winds had allowed much of the water to return.
