A cheery cherry red hull graced Oriental’s harbor recently, a Tahiti ketch named “Melita”. The owner said his father had built it in California decades ago, in hopes of sailing it back to his homeland, Malta (aka Melita). Instead he sold it. The son later found the boat in California, restored it and set off, in the wake of his father’s dream. “Melita” was on her way to Greenland when she passed through Oriental in mid-June.
