Up the creek without an umbrella. Bill Watkins of Durham wields a homemade “Greenland” paddle during the Pamlico Paddle, which did take place yesterday despite the rain and wind. The course took paddlers in to some headwinds on Spring Creek and then to a “mosquito ditch” that went thru some much calmer swampy wetlands. “Wet” was the word of the day.
