Soot on the Harbor | December 19, 2008

A heavy concentration of soot covered part of Oriental’s harbor Wednesday morning, clumping up near the Town Dock. It left smudge marks on a visiting sailboat, and drew onlookers, including the owner of Garland Fulcher Seafood, Sherrill Styron who said he seen boats that would belch out black smoke if not run in a while. But it was nothing, he said, like what he saw on the harbor Wednesday morning. (It wasn’t from one of Sherill’s boats – none of his boats were in the harbor Wednesday.) Source of the soot wasn’t clear.
