Wanted: Volunteers to Help the Children at HeartWorks | |
Many of the 150 children who attend the HeartWorks Afterschool Program have fallen behind academically during the past two years. The children could benefit tremendously from a bit of individual attention such as having someone to read with them, help them with simple arithmetic or engage in creative activities. If you would like to learn more, an Information session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022 at 1:30 downstairs in the large HeartWorks building at 709 Main Street, Bayboro.
The program serves children in Kindergarten through 8th grade from the Public School, the Charter School and the Christian Academy. Volunteers can help on a regular or irregular basis at the Afterschool and Summer Learning Programs. The orientation session will provide you with information about the program and the process for becoming a volunteer. If unable to attend the information session on March 23rd, but interested in volunteering, please contact Mary Guilfoyle, HeartWorks Volunteer Coordinator. Mary’s email is 3110marymoore@gmail.com or call 252-617-7014. Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the 21st Century Community Learning Center and from generous donors in our community whose support allows the program to be provided free of cost to the children and their families.
