There were
of course, larger fish … Got Mermaids?
According
to their sign, Oriental Mermaids were the Best Catch
Grand Prize honors in the parade went not to the croaker, but
to Oriental’s other symbol, the dragon. The parade marked
the debut of Oriental’s summertime dragon, which was created
by the folks at the Healthy Dragon and Oriental’s Farmers’
Market.

Who’s behind the mask? As the dragon passed by, some thought
they could hear Charles Bird’s voice behind the large
mask. And he wasn’t at the Farmers’ Market where
he’d usually be on Saturday mornings….
This was a different dragon from the one that appears only in
the New Year’s parade. Trailing behind the intricately
painted face of this summer dragon were yards and yards of a
luminous diaphronous silk draped over a hula-hoop-style skeleton.
A coordinated team could be detected within…
Most Eye-popping went to the Sailing Club of Oriental.
