The 2019 PAWS Pet Parade on Saturday, March 30 will be the 14th annual celebration of the canines in Oriental – where it is always the Year of the Dog. The parade sets out on the streets near Lou Mac Park at 11a. Dogs and their humans can register from 10-11a that morning at the Lou Mac Park staging area.

The entry fee is $5 per dog. All vaccinations must be up to date and PAWS asks that participants and spectators leash their dogs. Awards presented in numerous categories. Canine costumes optional but encouraged. A new category has been added this year. The Junior Award highlights children that participate in the parade.

Hot dogs will be for sale. This event raises funds for the Pamlico Animal Welfare Society and its spay/neuter program, pet food distribution and “New Leash on Life.” Have a look at previous pet parades:
