The Old Theater Presents ‘A Day with the World’s Best Drummer’ Monday, May 27 @ 5:30p & 7p.

Legendary drummer Bernard Purdie performs along with the Jim Kohler Blues Band. Purdie’s drumming career spans decades and includes work on more than 3,000 albums. He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013, and is one of the most recorded session drummers in music history.

He worked and toured with Aretha Franklin for five years, and played with other legends like Ray Charles, Peter Frampton, Steely Dan, Bob Marley, and James Brown. Purdie is known for his signature backbeat, called ‘the Purdie Shuffle.’ In 2009, he was the drummer for the Broadway revival of Hair.

Join Purdie at a free Children’s Drumming Workshop (for kids of all ages) at 4p.

Meet & Greet with Purdie at 5:30p, and see him and the Jim Kohler Blues Band perform at 7p.
