Bushwackers is a musical that tells the true story of Keith and Malinda Blalock of Grandfather Mountain.
Though they supported the Union, Keith was forced to join the Confederate Army. Rather than be left behind, Malinda cut her hair, disguised herself as a man, and joined the Army alongside her husband. Both ended up at the Battle of Kinston.
Written by Bill Hand, music by James Merritt, lyrics by both.
