Community Talk - Addiction is a Disease - Feb 12

Hope Clinic’s New Beginnings program invites the public to a free community discussion: “How We Know Addiction is a Disease,” Monday, February 12 at 6p at the Pamlico County High School Auditorium.

Lenn Murrelle leads the discussion, with an introduction from Pamlico County Sheriff Chris Davis.

Murrelle is a genetic epidemiologist and has studied the causes of addiction since 1984 – at UNC Chapel Hill, the University of Pittsburgh, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Murrelle will discuss the science and the research behind it, explaining the complexity of the disease and the many factors that can contribute to it.

This free event is for anyone – including those in recovery support groups, law enforcement officials, families of addicts, medical professionals, those with active addictions, and community members who would like to know more.

Pamlico County High School is at 601 Main Street in Bayboro.
