It’s one of the most compelling small boat stories: The WW2 evacuation at Dunkirk. In May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. Troops were evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found. Most of these were small civilian motor vessels. Running back and forth across the English channels, they evacuated 330,000 soldiers.
