Oriental resident, museum volunteer, and part-time historian Lou Ostendorff gives a talk about Oriental – the steamer and the town – at the Pamlico County Heritage Center, Monday May 22 at 7p.

Lou has done extensive research about the steamer and the town. Using slides and artifacts from the museum, he discusses the creation and commandeering of the steamship Oriental, how and why it wrecked, and how Oriental came to be named after a shipwreck.

The Pamlico County Heritage Center is at 10642 Highway 55 in Grantsboro. This is a free event.
