Oriental Officer Bill Wichrowski writes in to warn residents of an ongoing phone scam.Hello all.
I’d like to bring to everyone’s attention the fact that there is a new phone scam making its rounds around Oriental.
The details are immaterial. What is important to remember is that no legitimate business is going to call you and demand you wire them money. If you receive such a call please hang up. If it puts your mind at ease, call said business back at their publicly listed number (not a number provided by the caller) and verify that your account is up to date or go online and do the same.Thank you,

February 14, 2023Scams are nothing new. Oriental resident Doug Sligh dealt with a scammer over a classified ad Sligh had posted.
While he didn’t get scammed, Sligh did go through the process to find out how this particular scam worked.
