ach year the merchants, churches, townspeople and civic groups unite to present Spirit Of Christmas as a way to say “thank you” for your support during the year.

Join the town for holiday treats, entertainment and specials throughout town. See the Friday evening lighted kayak parade, the Saturday afternoon parade, live Nativity, Christmas Flotilla, the lighting of the Oriental Star… and discover the beauty of Oriental as luminaries light the streets at dusk after the parade.


Friday, December 13

12 – 4p Nautical Wheelers Wine Tasting, Holiday Cheers & Hors d’oeuvres. Santa visits 2-3p. Myra Blue and Jazzy 4 play the seasonal favorites are rescheduled for a drier day. 411 Broad St.

1 – 5p Studio 55 Hair & Nail Design Open house and refreshments. 705 Broad St.

3 – 4p Pamlico Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) PAWS will be serving hot dogs, chips, and sodas in front of Oriental Village Veterinary Hospital. 407 Broad St.

3 – 4p Oriental Village Veterinary Dr Sherri Hicks & staff invite you to an Open House with refreshments, finger foods, and hot dogs courtesy of PAWS. 407 Broad St.

4 – 5:30p Marsha’s Cottage Enjoy light refreshments and browse Marsha’s Fall/Winter collections. 204 Wall St.

4 – 5p First Citizens Bank Join Sally and staff serving up the “Best Refreshments Anywhere.” Donations are welcome for Toys For Tots, and Fishes & Loaves. 409 Broad Street.

Due to inclement weather, the caroling, lighting of the Christmas Star, and lighted kayak flotilla have been moved to Saturday night at 5p.

7p Pamlico Chorale @ Oriental United Methodist Church The Pamlico Chorale performs their holiday concert. 404 Freemason St.

Saturday, December 14

8a until… Farmer’s Market The Farmer’s Market has expanded hours for the Spirit of Christmas. Get your holiday shopping done early with local produce, freshly baked good, jams & jellies, fresh Christmas greenery, and fine arts & crafts. Along Hodges Street in front of Garland Fulcher Seafood. 301 Hodges St.

Saturday all day – Nautical Wheelers Spiced cider & refreshments. Watch the parade from Nautical Wheeler’s’ Adirondack chairs. 411 Broad St.

8a – 11a Brantley’s Village Restaurant Santa, his elf, and even the Grinch are at Brantley’s for breakfast. No matter the weather, there will be snow for the kids. 900 Broad St.

8a – 12p Croakertown Coffee Company There will be a book signing with author, Deanna Klingel and a holiday pop up shop with festive glassworks by local artist, Lyne Lassen. 108 Straight Rd.

9a until… Inland Waterway Provision Company Play the Nautical Trivia Sale game – how much you save is based on how much you know. There’s an Ugly Sweater Contest (all day), coffee & quiche, the UHOOs play at 10, and an Ice Sculpting Competition from 11a-4p (space is limited, call to reserve a spot). 305 Hodges Street.

10a until… Village Hardware Join Village Hardware for holiday meatballs. 804 Broad St.

10a – 5p Marsha’s Cottage Enjoy holiday refreshments and visit artist Jennifer Del Rio of “Second Wind”. Get a photo with Santa from noon – 2p. Watch the parade from the front porch. 204 Wall St.

10a – 1p Oriental Police Department Come meet Officers Blayney and Wichrowski on the front porch of Town Hall. Enjoy hot cocoa or hot cider and learn how to keep your home (and delivered packages) safe during the holidays. 507 Church St.

11a – 3p Pamlico Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) PAWS will serve a variety of chili, with all the fixin’s, on the front porch of Town Hall. Come meet PAWS, their adoptable dogs, and get your pet’s picture taken with Santa – you supply the camera and PAWS provides the Santa. 507 Church St.

11a – 1p Masters Wealth Management Group Serving ‘authentic’ Italian cookies from Famous Restaurant and Bakery in New Bern. 807 Broad St.

soc 11:30a Village Gallery The Pamlico Flutes play holiday tunes on the front porch of the Gallery. 300 Hodges St.

12p Live Nativity at Oriental United Methodist Church The Children’s Theater Workshop performs a Live Nativity in front of in the sanctuary of the OUMC. This annual tradition is performed by local children and directed by talented teens who participate in the Summer Theater program. 404 Freemason St.

12 – 2p Oriental Deli Try their award winning chili during their open house. 807 Broad St.

12 – 3p M&M’s Stop by and enjoy Dave’s Hot Soup with Pumpkin Nut Bread. 205 Water St.

12 – 8p New Village Brewery Dank Burrito Food Truck serves noon-7p, Songs From the Road band plays 5:30-8p, Santa and his elves visit 6-7p.

2p until… Mariner Realty Stop by the office to watch the Spirit of Christmas Parade while enjoying refreshments and Christmas cheer with Angie and Allen Propst and the folks at Mariner Realty.

2:15p – 3:15p The Old Theater Free popcorn on the porch during the parade. 609 Broad at the corner of Church St.

2:30p The Spirit of Christmas Parade Starting at Ragan Rd, it travels down Broad St, turns onto Hodges St and winds along the waterfront, ending at Lou Mac Park.

4p Lou Mac Park The Tree of Names and Lights is lit and left up until January 1.

5 – 5:30p Caroling & Star Lighting Carolers serenade Santa and the crowd at the town dock on Hodges Street as the Christmas Star is lit.

5p Lighted Kayak Parade A flotilla of lighted kayak/canoe/dinghy/paddle-boards (and any unmotorized dinghies) light up Oriental Harbor. The paddlers leave from the Wildlife Ramp around 4:45p and enter Oriental Harbor at 5p.

3 – 5p Toucan Bar & Grill/Tiki Bar Pauline Smith performs on the deck. 101 Wall St.

5p Oriental First Baptist Church The choir performs the annual Christmas Cantata. 605 Broad St.

5:30p Brantley’s Village Restaurant Enjoy bluegrass and Christmas music from Harbor Sounds, playing in the banquet room. 900 Broad St.

7p Pamlico Chorale @ Oriental united Methodist Church The Pamlico Chorale performs their holiday concert. 404 Freemason St.

7p Pamlico Arts @ This Silos Restaurant Lip Synco Holiday Song Challenge. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Fishes & Loaves.
