Oriental’s Dollar General opens early. One of their first customers on Wednesday, October 26, arrived looking for more than low prices.
The Dollar General in Oriental Thursday morning after the robbery.At 8:04a a masked person walked into the store, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.
The clerk handed over cash, what the Sheriff’s Department called ‘an amount of US currency.’ Word on the street in Oriental is that it was just a few hundred dollars. The masked person left in a vehicle. No one was injured.
Oriental Police Officers responded to a 911 call from Dollar General, followed by the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office. Information from the scene, witnesses, and nearby businesses helped in the identification of 43 year old Bayboro resident Sasha Chwasciewski as a suspect.
Sasha ChwasciewskiChwasciewski was located later in the day with another suspect, 35 year old Bayboro resident Rhiannon Morgan. The car described by witnesses and the firearm suspected to be used in the robbery were also located. Chwasciewski and Morgan were arrested without incident.
Rhiannon MorganBoth have been charged with one count of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. Chwasciewski’s bond has been set at $50,000. Morgan’s bond is $150,000. The women will appear in district court on Friday, Oct 28.
For what may have been a few hundred dollars, the women potentially now face Federal charges, loss of their freedom and rights, and time in prison.
