Bison. Chocolate. Peaches. These were some of the ingredients in this year’s chilis.
A look into the bottom of the chili pot of South Pamlico Volunteer Fire Department.Twelve chefs competed for awards in three categories: Judge’s Choice, People’s Choice, and the Spirit Award. There were two standout teams that took home three and two awards respectively: Triton’s Titan Chili and Maverick’s Amma’s Chili.
Just under 400 tasters (397) walked through the gates to get their ballots and their tasting spoon. Chefs served up small servings of chili in biodegradable cups.

In total, $5,774 was raised for the Old Theater.
