t’s a big weekend in Oriental. Perfect forecast. Town is ready for the Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival and Oriental Classic Car Show – both Saturday October 15.

While we just had a hurricane visit, town had minimal effects. Electric service is back.

But there is a challenge. Getting here.

The classic route east is via US Highway 70, passing through Goldsboro and Kinston. The Neuse River at Goldsboro and Kinston is flooding, and is forecast to possibly become impassable.

So, is there another way? Many other routes also are vulnerable to flooding waterways. But we think there is a route that bypasses all this. The map will show how to get here from Raleigh, but it can easily be adapted from any point west (Greensboro, Charlotte, etc).
