Police Chief Dwaine Moore Resigns
Formal Resignation Submitted June 21
June 22, 2017

D
waine Moore has formally resigned as Oriental’s Police Chief. Moore provided this statement:
As of 3:15p on the 21st of June I Chief Dwaine Moore signed a resignation agreement between myself and the town of Oriental.

It was not my intent to resign, but due to the politics involved in this situation and not having the time or money to fight the case I signed the agreement.

I want the people of the town of Oriental to know I honored the trust they put in me to serve as their Chief Of Police during my 6 1/2 year tenure.

At no time did my personal life ever interfere with my duty to protect and serve the great people of Oriental.

I would also like to say that because of present and future litigation that if you want to know the truth I invite you to come talk to me.

Moore was suspended in March after being charged for domestic assault. He was charged by the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Dept, not the person involved.

Dwaine Moore has not been convicted. His court case is coming up next week, and TownDock.net will have more information following that.

Moore owns a home on Freemason St in Oriental. He says he intends to stay in Oriental for now, although future employment opportunities could change that.
