ichard “Dick” Creighton, 82, died Thursday October 13, 2022 with his beloved wife, Judy Wayland by his side in New Bern, North Carolina.

Dick Creighton was born December 11, 1939 to Ruth Marion Cronin Creighton and Harold Crandall Creighton in Queens, New York. After graduating from the University of Nebraska, Dick dedicated his early life to a prestigious career in Washington D.C. He worked 25 years with the General Contractor’s Association and the remainder of his career with Portland Cement Alliance.

Well respected and honored, Dick proudly retired in 2004 from Washington to live happily with his beloved wife Judy Wayland in Oriental, North Carolina. A proud member of the Oriental Tree Board for many years, Dick deeply loved his home and community in Oriental. He cared for his companion Samantha, a devoted Basset Hound and later, Tucker and Spencer, two loving miniature poodles.

Dick was a quick witted, intelligent, big hearted friend to many and a dedicated community member. Quick to make people laugh, his charisma was undeniable.

He is survived by his wife Judy and Dick’s four children, Sarah, Marshall, Carter and Mary Creighton, and Judy’s two children, Kirk and Erik Wayland.
