The Pamlico Arts Council has had to cancel events due to the coronavirus pandemic. So they’ve decided to bring arts to you instead.TownDock.net and the Pamlico Arts Council are collaborating to make a series of videos fulfilling that goal.
In the first installment, mixed media artist and Oriental resident Irene Goley creates a flower scene using a crab basket and foam paper. Most of the materials are available for purchase at Dollar General. Irene, fond of using recycled materials in her work, says it’s fine to use whatever you have at home. Kits with the materials are also available for purchase at Harbourside Gardens in Bayboro, 252-745-0010.
Materials needed:
• Crab basket lid or bottom. If you don’t have that, a wood plaque, canvas or other base is fine.
• Foam Sheets (variety of colors) cut into circles of about 6” diameter or larger, depending on the size of your canvas.
• Glue gun and several glue sticks, or a bottle of school glue. (The glue gun will set faster.)
• ScissorsKits for sale at Harbourside Gardens. (limited quantities)
• Foam Flower Kit includes crab basket lid/#1 and small foam circles: $18.95
• Small Foam Flower Kit includes small sized foam and small canvas 10“x12”: $9.95
• Completed Crab Basket Flower Bouquet wall decoration: $29.95
