At its February 6 2017 meeting, Pamlico County’s Board of Commissioners is scheduled to vote on who will represent District 5 on the Board. That seat had been held by Kenny Heath until his resignation in early January after being charged with soliciting a prostitute. The 5th covers Arapahoe/Minnesott and stretches to the Oriental bridge.

In a letter dated January 22, the Pamlico GOP says it wants Arapahoe resident and Oriental realtor, Missy Baskervill to take Heath’s place on the 7-member board. County Manager Tim Buck says that Patricia Mills, another resident of District 5, has also indicated an interest in the seat. Click here for the Manager’s memo to the Board. State statute says the decision is up to the Commissioners, regardless of the Party recommendation. Their meeting starts at 7 p. There is a public comment period during the meetings.
