Letter: Georgie Says Thanks For Wurlitzer Fundraising
Red Lee Apron Up For Auction
September 20, 2013

The Oriental History Museum wants to repair the 60 year old Wurlitzer that used to play at Red Lee’s Hot Dog and Hamburger Grill. Estimated cost of the fix is about $500 and in less than a week and a half of an on-line fundraiser, readers came through to raise that much.. and more. The amplifier – the first part to be repaired — has already been sent off for retrofitting.

That fundraiser prompted Red’s daughter Georgie to write.

Dear Editor,

Would you please thank all the people who hold Red Lee’s Grill in their hearts how much I appreciate all the donations to fix Dad’s jukebox?

He would be so proud, as I am, of all my friends here who helped. I would be thrilled to drop the first quarter int eh slot as I have done many, many times.

On October 5th,I will auction off one of my last Red Lee aprons to help the Museum. They do a wonderful job there.

Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. I will be forever grateful.

Love,

Georgie Lee Powell
