Post-Irene Photos From Friday, September 2September 5, 2011
Scenes from Oriental on Friday, September 2.
Greg Paul of Small’s Landscaping and Mowing, assisting with post-Irene cleanup, with his most unusual find of the day – a sailboat dagger board. He deposited the board under the Oriental bridge with the hopes the owner would find it. More common items he was coming across included bits of wood, foam, bottles and broken, battery powered solar lights used to illuminate garden walkways. Jim Edwards later identified the dagger board as one belonging to his sailing school’s catamaran.Tree roots upended in Stonewall.Red barn on Hwy 55 between Merritt and Stonewall.Another view of the barn. It resembles a face in its tumbledown state. It’s been on the Davenport family’s property for decades.Signs of the times. Water’s safer to drink, but a warning issued about being vigilant.
